Hi, I'm Matt.
I’ve been building software for over 13 years, blending craft and curiosity across projects of every scale. My experience spans consulting for organizations like Google, Cargill, Verizon, the NYC MTA, and UnitedHealth Group, as well as four years at Shopify developing e-commerce and fintech solutions that power millions of businesses worldwide.
Outside of work, I hike, photograph, bake, play music, and explore the world. I thrive on human connection and believe that kindness and respect are the foundation of meaningful progress—both in code and in life.
Manifesto
I believe technology should feel human: fast, beautiful, and honest in its intent. Every line of code is an act of design, every interaction a chance to make something intuitive instead of intimidating. I build systems that disappear when they work right; tools that empower people rather than distract them. Performance isn't just about speed; it's about respect for a user's time and attention. Elegance isn't decoration; it's clarity.
I'm driven by the idea that great software should remove barriers, not create them. My work is about crafting experiences that flow, scale, and invite curiosity. Whether it's a web app, a design system, or an experiment that rethinks how we interact with data, I aim to make the digital world feel lighter, more responsive, and more alive. I want to collaborate with people and organizations who care not just about what we build, but why we build it.

We Got This Registry
Gift and donation registry for the nonprofit We Got This — people facing cancer and their caregivers share what they need, and supporters buy items or donate. As lead developer I migrated the Laravel app to Laravel Cloud, moved the codebase into the org’s GitHub, and shipped features for registrants, supporters, and staff admins (~21K weekly visits, 118K weekly requests, 99%+ transactional email deliverability), plus an AI-assisted workflow so non-engineers can propose changes through Claude Code with human-reviewed PRs.
Passage
Turns Audiobookshelf bookmarks into private audio clips — import a timestamp, trim around it with ffmpeg, optionally transcribe with Whisper, and share a card that deep-links back to your server without hosting the book on the public internet. Also surfaces what other users on your ABS server are listening to and recently finished.
Orderwise
Shared standing-order workspace for bakeries and coffee shops — relationship-scoped assortment, per-delivery quantities, thread, settlement, and super-simple inventory both sides actually use.
Instagram RSS
Instagram-style PWA where GitHub hosts your photos and RSS is the social graph — own your feed, follow any RSS URL, work offline.
Media Update Tracker
Personal dashboard that weekly-ingests bands, TV, movies, and books from public APIs and custom RSS/iCal sources — deduped into a clean timeline.
Hardy Boys Collector
iOS app to track Hardy Boys Mystery Stories #1–#190 with CloudKit sync, progress tracking, and compressed cover thumbnails.
Song of the Day
Docker job for your NAS that downloads 89.3 The Current Song of the Day, tags tracks via MusicBrainz, and serves a small library UI.

Quiet editorial gallery of ceramic vessels — Astro content collections, museum wall-label captions, and zero client JS by default.
